Hello hello!
I’m so glad you are back reading my blog. I literally always do this where I go away for a year and then pop back up. It happens- blogging isn’t a form of income for me so while it is something I love to do, it does not always take the most important spot in my agenda. I’ll give y’all an update on my life if you’re interested in a few days, but I first just wanted to say that while this whole quarantine thing hasn’t been ideal, I have used it as a time to get back into things I really enjoy but am not able to fully do during the school year. One of those things is obviously blogging, but another is reading. I used to be a HUGE bookworm and always took books with me to school and was constantly scanning Target and my Amazon Kindle for new reads. I also have a Goodreads that I have constantly used since about 2012, so I’ll link that here if you want to follow me along there for a good time.
I’ve read quite a few books since the start of quarantine, and I wanted to share y’all some of the ones I’ve enjoyed as well as ones from the past that I think are perfect to read during this time. I also HIGHLY recommend checking out Reese Witherspoon’s book club. Her books literally NEVER disappoint me, and I love how I can spot one in Target as they each have a sticker on them.
Where the Crawdads Sing | Delia Owens
I read this book last summer, and while I know that everyone has either read this one by now or has at least heard of it, I still think it’s a fantastic story. I love the historical elements and the storyline intrigued me the entire way.
The Last Mrs. Parrish | Liv Constantine
Another Reese Book Club read, this novel is a TRIP. I could not put it down and was constantly shocked every chapter. This one you’ll either love or hate, so why not give it a try and figure out this crazy story for yourself!
Me Before You | JoJo Moyes
This book has been around for a while, but I think it is still a valuable story to read. This book touched me in so many ways, and I think it can give you some perspective during this interesting time we are in. There are also other books in this “series” so check them out if you already have read this one!
The Whisper Network | Chandler Baker
Love Gossip Girl? You’ll like this one. The drama builds in this novel as some interesting stuff goes down in an office building. Don’t pass this one up.
At the Water’s Edge | Sara Gruen
Have you read and loved Water for Elephants? First of all if you haven’t read WFE please read that right now, but even if you haven’t be sure to check this novel out. Sara Gruen writes beautiful love stories with historical and fantasy elements that transport you to another world. This one takes place in Scotland during WW2- definitely check her books out!
Under Different Stars | Amy A. Bartol
This series is one of those weird guilty pleasures for me. I discovered it in high school on my kindle and read the trilogy in about two weeks. It’s a sci-fi, outer space saga that kept me turning the pages. I think picking up a series is great during this time because you can read it quickly and keep yourself occupied!
A Gentleman in Moscow | Amor Towles
So this one is pretty fun for this time because the main character in the novel is literally stuck in a hotel for his whole life. Discover how he finds pleasure in daily life and learn a few lessons from this one. Also great if you love learning about Russian history!
The Luxe | Anna Godbersen
This book series was my everything in middle school. Don’t let that fool you though- I think it is still great for all ages and I plan on re-reading it at some point soon. Another Gossip Girl-esque storyline, the drama unfolds in late 19th century among socialites and sisters. This four book saga kept my head-spinning even after finishing it. Can’t recommend this one highly enough. The author also has a spin-off series during the 1920s which is also fabulous,.
Nine Perfect Strangers | Liane Moriarty
This one’s crazy too. I honestly can’t even explain what occurred in this book because there were twists every page. Liane Moriarty is a fantastic author and any of her books would make a great read during this time. However, this one’s got to be my fave!
What have you been reading during this time? And have you read any of my recommendations? Also be sure to check out my Goodreads if you use that platform. If you don’t, I think it’s a great way to track your readings and your reading interests, as well as hold yourself accountable for your reading goals!
Stay safe and happy reading!
