Hello hello!
I absolutely love tweed. It’s such a classic fabric! Whenever I think of this intricate fabric I am immediately reminded of Chanel tweed jacket and skirt sets, suits, and even ballet flats. These timeless pieces are a dream of mine to own, but you can enjoy the Chanel-style fabric on a budget! Be sure to scroll all the way down on this post to see a collage of some tweed finds perfect for spring!
I bought this fluted tweed skirt on major sale at J.Crew a few months ago, and I couldn’t figure out the right way to style it. I wanted a blue blazer or jacket to wear with it, and thankfully I found the J.Crew stadium wool baby blue coat on sale a few weeks ago. Once I got that in it was time to style this gorgeous tweed skirt! She can be a bit intimidating, but I recommend pairing it with a white or cream blouse or sweater. If you’re feeling funky layer it with a neutral, navy blue, or pale blue blazer or coat like I did here!
Did you know tweed was actually meant to be a durable and weather-resistant outerwear fabric? Irish, Scottish, Englishmen wore it informally while outside. That’s where our adored houndstooth and herringbone patterns originate too. I think it’s so interesting how today, tweed is a more feminine fabric and has become a staple in preppy fashion. We also don’t really use it for a durable outwear, but rather for suits and skirts. The more you know!

I’ve also rounded up several tweed items that would be perfect for the transition to spring! Many people think tweed is meant for winter only, but the fabric is actually light and colorful enough to wear in spring! The woven wool fabric obviously doesn’t carry over well to summer, but you can totally get away with it in the early spring months. It also comes in a variety of pastels and fun colors, so it’s such an easy way to add some color to any outfit!
Check out some tweed finds! I seriously am a sucker for a tweed jacket so I might need to purchase one of these soon haha. You can click directly on the products to shop it.
