I am preparing to move into an apartment by the end of the summer for either grad school or a job (can’t decide what I want to do yet oops), so in my spare time I liked to make mock designs of apartment decor. I love planning interior spaces out because it helps to prevent impulsively buying decor that you end up not liking, as well as let you play around with different styles. Of course things might look completely different when you actually move or decorate the space, but it helps to have a guideline of what you are thinking. I made mine in Canva, and I linked all the items I love or want similar versions of in that same Canva document so I can refer to it when I am ready to purchase decor and furniture.
For my apartment, I want to keep a lot of the decorations and furniture I have used in the past, so many of those items are influencing my vision. I love using gold and white furniture pieces, so those are most definitely present in these apartment mockups. I also love mod interior design trends, which range from mixing lots of textures, using vibrant and sometimes clashing colors, and incorporating mixed patterns. Part of this comes from me wanting a very eclectic and colorful space, but another part comes from my desire for a navy velvet couch. I have wanted a navy velvet couch for several years now, and I cannot wait to own one sometime soon. Because I have a lot of pink decor items already, I plan to use mostly blue and pink decor, but also throw in things that I like. I think a lot of this decor style is considered preppy, but I personally love bright colors, somewhat obnoxious patterns, and lots of stuff going on. I’ll insert some pics of what I love below, as well as my mockups.
// living room //
feather lamp (my lamp is from Homegoods Rachel Zoe brand, check there first!) // vogue prints // pink fringe lampshade // navy velvet couch //
teal chair // gold coffee table // scallop petal tray // antelope rug // forever peonies // white tv console table // pink pouf ottoman // leopard wall art
// bed room //
pink and orange rug // bed frame // pillows // wall art- old from Target (not sure if I will use this one, kinda doesn’t match in my opinion!) // pink nightstand // feather lamp– actual lamp I have is from Homegoods, much cheaper there! // gold decorative shelves // clothing rack // mirror- check out Target! // gold mirror side table // pink chair // leopard statue // tall pink lamp // butterfly prints
I’ll keep y’all updated once I finally move into an apartment (probably late August/early September). Until then, I’ll be searching for good deals for decor and furniture!
xoxo,
Madison
