How is it already August? This year has flown by. I figured a fun way to touch base with y’all each month would be a small Q+A and favorites post! I’ve done favorites posts here and there, but honestly I use the same stuff all the time so finding new favorites is hard. But, I was still able to pick a few new things so I rounded up a few things from this month for you!
printfresh pajamas // invisible life of addie larue // people we meet on vacation // colorblock purse // perfume // NYT crossword puzzle app // floral dress // pink and orange rug // ruffle button down shirt
// favorites //
printfresh pajamas: I tagged Printfresh on my stories one day, and they were so kind to send me two pairs of pajamas and welcome me to their affiliate program. The prints are stunning, and the pajamas are light-weight and comfortable. The pair in the graphic is the print I want to order next! You can use my code THECLASSICMADISON to save on your purchase.
fave books this month: I haven’t been reading a ton (mainly because I scroll on my phone for hours at night to fall asleep- bad habit I know), but I did get the chance to read two phenomenal books I think everyone should read. One being The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, which is a fantasy book taking you through several timelines and decades throughout history, all in the eyes of one narrator. Truly breathtaking. I also loved People We Meet On Vacation, which is a contemporary romance of a travel writer figuring out what makes her happy- sounds cheesy but it’s fantastic!
colorblock purse: I found this cute colorblock purse at the Kate Spade outlet with my mom, and I think it’s just perfect! The Kate Spade outlets have been running sales all summer, so it’s a great time to invest in a new purse!
Queen Bee Perfume: I’ve had this perfume for several years now, but I have been wearing it a lot more recently. You can find it at Target, and it lasts pretty well for the price. It is a sassy floral blend, kind of like a more mature version of the Taylor Swift Wonderstruck perfume I loved in middle school. It has a musky undertone, but sweet and floral top notes.
NYT crossword puzzle app: I have no clue why I decided to purchase a the crossword puzzle subscription, but I did and it’s a great way to stay entertained. I guess I kind of want to stay sharp, so I play this while watching TV, waiting for appointments, or to help me unwind at night. You don’t have to buy the subscription, but the subscription unlocks the archive of puzzles and gives you bigger puzzles than the free version.
floral Zara dress: I snagged the floral dress from Zara earlier this summer, and I have worn it way more times than I expected to. I receive so many compliments on it, and you can easily dress it up with heels or wedges, or dress it down with white sneakers or sandals. I linked an under $30 version that comes in a few colorways.
pink and orange rug: I have found the perfect rug for my apartment, and if you follow along on my Instagram story you know the drama of it going in and out of stock. I caught it back in stock earlier than it said it would, so I snagged it! I love the art-deco/mod vibes and am excited to decorate with it.
white ruffle button up: I shot some photos the other day and needed a white button up for a look. I browsed through my closet and pulled out this ruffle number from J.Crew fall that I hadn’t worn yet! It is a little stiff at first so just be patient with it, but once you loosen it up it goes perfectly with so many outfits. I was surprised it was still in stock, so check it out if you need some more basics in your wardrobe.
// q + a //
Q: When are you moving to Savannah?
A: I am moving almost at the end of August! I had to push it back to make the move-in time work with my family and my schedule.
Q: Will you have roommates in Savannah?
A: Nope! Just me and my cats. I wanted to have a space to myself for this first year, but I will probably consider a roommate to lower rent costs for the next lease.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A: Hopefully at a job I really like! I know that the first couple of years in the work force is not always the most enjoyable, but part of the reason I am going to SCAD is so I can really narrow in on the exact jobs and companies I dream of working for. I also hope my blog is a good source of inc
Q: What are you most excited for about moving to Savannah?
A: A change of scenery! I am excited to live on my own, be in charge of my budget, go to school for something I’m passionate in, and of course meet new people! I’m also so excited to try new restaurants around Savannah!
Q: What are you most excited about for grad school?
A: For super niche classes that relate exactly to what I want to do! This semester I’m taking Fashion Promotion, Visual and Creative Narrative, and Financial Reporting and Analysis (not as excited for that one). Once I get further into my program I’ll be taking tons of business and fashion courses.
Feel free to submit questions for the next favorites and q+a post through Instagram! I hope y’all have an amazing start to your August!
xoxo,
Madison
