Ahh the time has come for Miss Fall to roll around. While I tend to appreciate all seasons fairly equally, I do find that my style flourishes in the fall season as the leaves begin to fall. I love layering sweaters, shirts, and jackets for that cozy combination. Boots and close-toed shoes are my jam over sandals, and tights always up the ante on any outfit. I always find that even as trends come and go, my fall style stays the same. I opt for classic neutrals and lots of blacks, cable knits, tweed skirts, knee-high boots, and a smattering of headbands and hair bows. I also find that clothes flatter me more in these cooler months because I can really get into my preferred shapes and lengths.
I’ve rounded up a few items that I think are the ring-leaders of classic fall style this season. As someone who doesn’t change up my style every season, I have grown to love my fall wardrobe. Many of the classic pieces I still wear I’ve had since high school. A lot of the brands I shop from also come out with similar fall items each season, so I know I’m on par with that classic fall style. I am seeing a few fun trends that I think will be great to add to be trendy now, but will also remind classic after they’re “in”.
black cape dress // geometric sunglasses // beige cable knit sweater // cable knit seater vest // mock neck striped sweater // trench coat // green cord pants // white boots // white bow blouse // white and black striped cape coat // tweed crossbody bag // black leather mini dress // tan leather skirt // pink coat // layered shirt dress // black turtleneck sweater dress // blue houndstooth skirt
// creamy neutrals //
So obviously neutrals like cream, camel, and beige are always in style. I mean I don’t think colors are ever really in or out, but that’s just me. However, even the trendiest of gals are buying cream in bulk this year. It’s a great transitional color, and you can even mix and match your creamy neutrals by opting for textures like leather, cable-knits, and silks all in one.
// leather variety //
Leather is always around but something about this year has made leather a huge moment. I’m hoping to find a leather jacket and leather mini dress at some point this season, as I know those will last a lifetime. I’m also loving the stray from all black leather. Many brands are showcasing olive green and camel leathers. And of course pleather is a cruelty-free option!
// mod moments //
Everyone is loving the return to the 60s and 70s. However they will never leave for me- those decades have some of the most classic and timeless trends that will literally always look amazing. Anthropologie and Tuckernuck specifically are leaning into that 1960s flair, and turtlenecks, shift dresses, and large capes are going to be all over this fall. Experiment with color too- add a fun pair of colored tights with a shift dress and some matching sling back heels!
// Emily in Paris is back //
So I saw this pink coat and immediately thought of Emily in Paris. I’m also seeing lots of bright colors that typically wouldn’t be worn for fall floating around like bright pink, royal blue, and emerald green. Have fun with colors and prints with our resident “Parisian” girl Emily. And stay tuned for the new season coming out soon!
xoxo,
Madison
