Hey hey!!
I randomly decided to purchase a beret a few weeks back after getting a strong urge to wear them in some of my blog photos! I wish I was bold enough to wear them around my campus, but I might just have to wait until I’m in ~the real world~ or in a bigger city. But I do love the look of them, and I personally prefer them over wider brimmed hats or other more dressy hats. Berets are timeless and add a layer of sophistication to your outfit. If you’ve been wanting to try out a beret, I recommend starting with a less expensive one such as this black one I got from Amazon for under $7. If you buy a beret and realize it isn’t for you, at least you can wear a cheap one to a costume party later on haha! But honestly, I think berets are a bit trendy right now so it doesn’t hurt to try one out! I love anything Parisian, and a beret is about as French as it gets!

An obvious easy way to wear a beret is just with a sweater and jeans as your main accessory. Mix in with the colors of your outfit like I did here, or buy a statement beret such as a white/cream one or a fun color that has a contrast to your outfit! I loved this animal print mock neck sweater with the beret instead of a lot of jewelry. It kept the outfit clean and simple but still trendy and fun!

Now onto a more ~fancy~ outfit idea. I got this from Confetti Boutique (remember you can always use code MADISON15 for 15% off your order!) and immediately though of doing a French-inspired look with this. I paired it with a long overcoat since it’s still quite chilly, and of course I added my adored Chanel-inspired cap toe heels. These suddenly got super popular this year, but I had always had my eye on a pair of shoes like this ever since doing some research on Chanel a few years back. These cap-toe heels will literally never go out of style, and they can be worn casually or dressy. I finished the look with my beret and simple bracelets. If you haven’t noticed around here, I don’t like to wear a whole lot of jewelry! Maybe that’s not trendy, but I personally like to keep my jewelry simple if the outfit is more of a statement. The beret is really all you need in terms of accessories!

Did you have a favorite outfit from any I shared? If you have never worn or owned a beret before, I hope this post gave you a little inspo and kick to go out and wear one! I am trying to be more confident in bold in my style choices this year, and wearing a beret around has been one of the main ones! I’m always looking for ways to incorporate French style into my wardrobe, and while I know the beret is a classic French cliche, it’s not called a beret for nothing!
