I had no intention of taking over a month long break from the blog, but with college wrapping up and then life getting in the way, it’s been a minute since I’ve sat down to write a post for the blog. It’s not that I didn’t want to, I just literally did not have the time to produce content (planning out photo shoots is no easy task, and truthfully by the last few weeks of classes I was not looking the cutest so even phone photoshoots weren’t it for me). I was hoping to have a little more time once getting home from graduation, but I am back working at Kendra Scott (I worked there during the holiday season while my school had a super long winter break), and I have been working almost every day since being home.
On top of that, I am still in the process of deciding what I want to do next. If you think you are supposed to have it all figured out by graduation, please take that pressure off your shoulders because it is honestly so common to not know or have plans lined up. Truthfully, I am glad I didn’t rush to accept some random job or make a decision on grad school. In fact, I still haven’t decided what’s next. I have been accepted to graduate school in Savannah, GA, for about a one year program in fashion management. There’s a part of me that is dead-set on doing that, but another part that is waiting to see if there are any awesome jobs I can apply and be offered to. I’ll keep you updated if I ever make up my mind!
Anyways, today’s post has nothing to do with all of that above, HA! I am back with another Retro Mix, because retro is in right now and I am loving it. In my opinion, retro fashion will always be in style because it influences just about every trend today. I am seeing lots of 1960s/1970s prints and silhouettes on influencers and from brands. While many of these pieces are definitely a fast fashion trend and will be gone in a few weeks, you can most definitely incorporate older styles from the past century into your everyday wardrobe. Again, it can be timeless. So let’s get into it!
pink co-ord set (top // skort ) // decorative mules // gingham collar blouse
cream slingbacks // green stripe swim suit // khaki shorts
white scallop blouse // pink tweed skirt // green exaggerated collar dress

pink co-ord set (top // skort )
My absolute favorite thing on this post has to be this bright pink set. I ordered it a few days ago, and I am SO excited for it to arrive. Co-ords are great pieces to invest in because you essentially have a minimum of 3 outfits with it (together, top only, and skirt only). Then mix and match with whatever else is in your closet for endless combos! I imagine wearing this casual with white sneakers and simple gold jewelry and fancy with my cap-toe slingbacks and a headband.
I saw these while browsing Lulus for new shoes (can I recommend Lulus for all your shoe needs??!! They seriously have a great selection of business, casual, and dressy shoes. These fringe-details mules remind me of the 1920s and would go so nicely with a dressier outfit for work or to dress up a pair of jeans and white blouse.
Gingham is super popular right now (I mean it is timeless in my opinion but the trendy gals are wearing it now so I consider that a win!). I love this blouse because it uses a very retro-inspired collar that I feel like you would find in the span between the 1960s and 1980s.
I would snatch these gorgeous cream slingback heels in a heartbeat if I didn’t already have two pairs of slingbacks and one more pair on the way. These are everything 1960s, and the cream color makes them wearable even in the fall and winter. I think a lot of people are intimidated by slingbacks because they appear dressy, but you can wear them with just about anything (any pair of jeans, a dress, mini skirt, work pants, midi skirt, etc.)
One piece swimsuits are a great way to keep a little modesty while swimming but also tap into retro style! Anything with stripes or a belt will instantly send you back to the 1950s/1960s.
Any kind of larger fitting, longer shorts are a great way to emulate retro style. These khaki safari style shorts are a great 1970s/1980s look that is trendy today yet timeless always.
A girl can never have too many white blouses. This one has a perfect retro touch to it that I can’t quite put my finger on, but it is wearable with just about any pant/skirt combo.
So you probably aren’t wearing tweed right now, but I wanted to share this fabulous pink tweed skirt if you want to save it for winter and spring. I love tweed because it reminds me of Chanel and 1960s fashion.
green exaggerated collar dress
I’ve been seeing exaggerated collar dresses and tops all over recently, and I love the retro elegance it brings! I’ve had my eye on this gorgeous green dress for a few weeks. She is perfect for now and also would make a great transition piece for the fall.
Vivienne westwood pearl necklace dupe
I don’t know how far back these pearl necklaces go, but I have seen them all over Tik Tok recently and I found a dupe on Etsy that I LOVE. These are a great piece on their own or to layer with other necklaces. Definitely a new fave!
If you want to join into the fun that retro fashion brings, be sure to tag me on Instagram! I am really challenging myself to wear and purchase more retro-inspired (and even some vintage) pieces because I feel that it represents my style the best. Let me know who you like to purchase retro pieces if you love it like me!
